Thrivent Building on Faith Month
Founded in 2000, Northern Ocean Habitat has been providing homeownership opportunities for hardworking families for 18 years. Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Northern Ocean Habitat serves the northern region of Ocean County, and has constructed 18 affordable homes and rehabilitated 60 Superstorm Sandy impacted homes. In addition, Northern Ocean Habitat has repaired over 185 homes for homeowner-occupied, low income homeowners.
Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial are partnering to help make affordable housing a reality for Northern Ocean Habitat through the “Building on Faith” initiative. “Building on Faith” is a partnership powered by Christian faith—and a passion to build stronger families, churches and communities. Some upcoming events include:
August 9, 2018, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm: Pastors and individuals are welcome to join us for an interactive evening that includes a tour of Northern Ocean Habitat’s local ReStore, general Northern Ocean Habitat information, and education on the “Building on Faith” initiative. The ReStore is located at 1214 Route 37 East, Toms River, NJ 08753. Refreshments will be served.
September 14, 2018, 8:30 am – 10:00 am: All Christian Congregation Leaders are invited to join Northern Ocean Habitat for a celebratory “Building on Faith” kick-off breakfast. This will be an opportunity to offer up engagement ideas and to join in furthering Habitat’s Christian mission. This event is hosted by Pastor Sue Royle, Living Word Baptist Church, 320 Compass Avenue, Beachwood, NJ 08722. Pre-registration is not required but appreciated.
September 20, 2018, 5:0 pm – 8:00 pm: Volunteers and community members are invited to shop in the ReStore and participate in a do-it-yourself Frame Repurposing workshop. October 13, 2018: On “Make a Difference Day,” Northern Ocean Habitat is inviting volunteers to work on repairs for a low-income home in your community.
