Cars for Homes
EVERY DAY is Earth Day
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity has grown from a grassroots effort that began on a community farm in southern Georgia in 1976 to a global nonprofit housing organization in nearly 1,400 communities across the U.S. and in over 70 countries. People partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower.
Habitat accepts most intact cars, trucks, motorcycles, airplanes, construction vehicles, recreational vehicles, and boats on trailers. All vehicles must have titles executed in conformance with the applicable state law.
The vehicle need not be in running condition, but it must be intact and have four inflated tires so it can be towed.
All vehicle donations are processed as quickly as possible after an appropriately executed title is received at our processing center. A donated vehicle is typically picked up within two or three days. Online donations speed up the process, and arrangements can be made more quickly if a vehicle qualifies for an expedited pickup.
The online Car Donation Wizard, cardonationwizard.com, will tell you what documents are required in your state. Most states require that you have a clear title to the vehicle; in the event that documentation is required to clear the title or if there are other special circumstances, our processing center will assist you. Call (877) 277-4344.
Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. If you itemize deductions on your income tax return, you may be entitled to deduct the gross sales value of your donated vehicle. Donors will receive appropriate receipts within 30 days of the sale of their car. Please consult your tax adviser or the IRS to determine benefits.
