Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity Walk to Build

September 8 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity hosts an annual Walk to Build in Lavallette.  Anyone is welcome to participate in this walk.  This event also includes engaging the local Northern Ocean Habitat Campus Chapters (schools that have a formal Habitat partnership which includes various commitments to the Habitat mission) and other students to participate.  In addition, the Ocean County Amateur Radio Emergency Service Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, typically volunteers to join Northern Ocean Habitat on the boardwalk in case of an emergency.

The Walk to Build is a relatively short, level walk (approximately 2.5 miles round trip) which runs the length of the Lavallette boardwalk and loops back through the business area of Lavallette.

After the walk concludes, Northern Ocean Habitat moves over to a booth at the Founder’s Day event where there will be a Habitat table with various resources for the public.

The Walk to Build is held in Lavallette on the Borough’s Founder’s Day on September 8, 2018.  Registration starts at 9 am and the walk begins at 10 am. The Founder’s Day celebration is from 11 am to 5 pm.

The registration area and start of the Walk is at Dover Avenue/1st Avenue in Lavallette; drive east toward the ocean where the boardwalk begins.  The Founder’s Day event is located bayside at Bay Boulevard and Philadelphia Avenue; the Borough blocks off streets along the bayside.

The event is to raise funds for Northern Ocean Habitat’s mission of repairing homes in order to provide a means for low-income homeowners to remain in a healthy and safe home.   In addition, it affords Northern Ocean Habitat the opportunity to engage the local Habitat Campus Chapters and other students who may be too young to participate in Habitat construction projects.
