Padlocks for Patriots

Padlocks for Patriots is a grassroots initiative with the goal of raising funds to repair veteran homes in northern Ocean County. Purchase a padlock for $25 and compose a message to honor or memorialize a veteran; the padlock will be engraved and locked on the Habitat American flag fence at the Habitat ReStore. All funds raised through this initiative are used for Habitat’s veteran repairs and homeowner programs. Locks can be purchased at the ReStore at 1214 Route 37 East in Toms River, open Tuesday through Saturday from 10-6. Padlocks can also be purchased online at nohfh.com/padlocks. For more information, please call (732) 228-7962 x109.

Today, 1.4 million veterans are living in poverty. Many of our veterans are living in poverty because of the high cost of housing, despite having access to VA loans and other assistance.

In addition, nearly 4 million veterans are using at least 30 percent of their income to pay for their rent or mortgage, and more than 1.5 million are paying at least 50 percent.

Since 2013, over 2,000 veterans and families have partnered with Habitat for Humanity International to create safe, decent, affordable housing through the Veterans Build program.

Locks can be purchased at the ReStore at 1214 Rt. 37 East in Toms River. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10-6.
