Walk to Build 2019 – A Resounding Success!
Lavallette, NJ — Mayor Walter LaCicero, Pastor Sue Royle, and Executive Director Suzan Fichtner kicked-off the festivities for Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity’s fourth annual Walk to Build at Dover Avenue and the Lavallette Boardwalk on September 7, 2019.
In the largest turnout ever, close to 200 volunteers, family, friends, and supporters gathered on the Lavallette boardwalk for the 3-mile walk to “Stomp Out Poverty Housing” in Northern Ocean County.
With the sun shining brightly, participants started at Dover Avenue, walked north for the full length of the boardwalk, and returned by way of Grand Central Avenue, with many stopping in at Playa Bowls for a bottle of water on the trip back.
Habitat was proud and blessed to host teams of walkers from Community Medical Center, Donovan Catholic High School, Georgian Court University, the Holy Temple of God in Christ Congregation, Manchester High School, and 21Plus.
Walk to Build 2019 was a resounding success because of the kindness and support of all of our volunteers and walkers as well as generous sponsorships from Playa Bowls of Lavallette, Lacey, Toms River, and Island Heights; from The Citta Foundation, the OceanFirst Foundation, the Lakewood Blueclaws, Donovan Catholic and Manchester High Schools, and St. Joseph Grade School.
